The PTFE duct mandrel is used to verify that ducts and conduits are free from deformation, stones, or obstructions before cable or fiber installation. Damage to ducts is common after frost, ground movement, and backfilling, and can cause sudden and costly installation stops.
By pulling the mandrel through the duct, the internal condition and continuity of the conduit are confirmed. This allows installers to assess the installation conditions in advance and take preventive, time‑ and cost‑saving measures before cable pulling or blowing begins.
The mandrel is manufactured from PTFE (teflon), a material with extremely low friction and high wear resistance. Its smooth surface allows it to pass easily through bends and long duct runs with minimal resistance. Available in multiple sizes to suit different duct dimensions.
