Stones and external loads that damage ducts are not uncommon during frost conditions, ground movement, and backfilling operations. The second‑generation duct mandrel is designed not only to verify that a duct is passable, but also to indicate if – and to what extent – the duct has been deformed.
By pulling the mandrel through the duct, the installer can directly read the maximum available free internal diameter (Ø) after any deformation. This provides a clear and reliable decision basis prior to subsequent cable or fiber installation, allowing preventive measures to be taken before unexpected and costly installation stops occur.
The mandrel features a mechanically expanding design with a clear scale that displays the reduced diameter when the duct has been exposed to external pressure. It is suitable for both new installations and inspection of existing duct systems. Multiple sizes are available, together covering duct diameters from Ø30 to Ø130 mm.
