The Izumi S‑55A is a portable hydraulic cutter designed for demanding cutting tasks involving wire ropes, guy wires, and stranded aluminium and copper conductors. It is well suited for use in power line construction, utility work, and industrial environments where controlled, high-force cutting is required. The compact yet robust design makes it practical for field operations, including work in substations and along transmission lines.
The S‑55A features a guillotine-type cutting mechanism that ensures clean cuts with reduced risk of jamming compared to traditional shear-type cutters. The 180° rotating head allows flexible positioning for improved access and ergonomics, while the lock pin type cutter head provides secure operation under high loads. A flip-top latch enables fast and easy insertion of materials, improving productivity during repetitive cutting tasks.
With an output force of approximately 118 kN (converted from 12 metric tons) and a two-stage hydraulic pumping system, the tool delivers strong and controlled cutting performance with moderate manual effort. The integrated hydraulic system requires no external setup, and replaceable blades extend service life.
